Beam at Cities Summit of the Americas: Making the Social Safety Net Work for Everyone

Author:

Whether it’s helping rural New Hampshire families access rental relief, or administering utility programs for Baltimorians living at 200% below the poverty line, Beam is helping streamline the public benefits process so more communities can realize their full potential.

That’s why we’re excited to join city, state, municipal, and regional leaders from across the Western Hemisphere at the inaugural Cities Summit of the Americas in Denver, Colorado later this week. From April 26th to 28th, we will have the opportunity to connect with innovators from a wide range of industries - including government, civil society, business, and more - to brainstorm how we tackle some of the most pressing issues facing our cities.

The summit comes at a pivotal moment for families nationwide. Between record inflation and interest rates and COVID emergency programs drying up, most people’s lives are severely impacted by financial hardship. On the heels of the Biden Administration’s $500M+ investment to modernize government services and Executive Order to address inequality, our CEO will address summit guests on how public benefits systems can act as a one-stop-shop for all eligible assistance programs.

At Beam, we’re on a mission to build the next generation of the social safety net to ensure Americans can access the resources they are entitled to with the greatest dignity and least administrative burdens possible. We hope you’ll join us in Denver to discuss how we can revamp the social safety net to ensure our most vulnerable neighbors get the support they need, or follow along virtually on Twitter and LinkedIn.

No Wrong Door: Making the Social Safety Net Work for Everyone
Presentation and Q&A with Beam CEO David Helene

U.S. Pavilion at Innovation Plaza

On Thursday, Beam CEO David Helene will be hosting a presentation and Q&A, No Wrong Door: Making the Social Safety Net Work for Everyone. David will discuss how communities around the country are building “no wrong door” public benefits systems to administer financial assistance simply, quickly, and equitably.

Beam envisions a future public benefits ecosystem where no matter how or where people apply for benefits, they are seamlessly directed to any and all programs they’re eligible for. This means governments must take a holistic approach that ensures success across the entire social safety net journey, from application to case management to administration.

We're also honored to share that Beam was selected to participate in the summit’s Innovation Plaza, chosen as one of 38 exhibitors out of hundreds of applicants. Alongside other transformational companies and organizations empowering smart government, we’ll have the chance to share our vision for accessible, equitable public benefits in communities around the world.

As guests move through our booth at the summit, they will be able to experience the application process for public benefits firsthand through the eyes of both government case managers and end users. Attendees will be able to visualize the contrast between outdated, paper-based systems used to administer government aid versus the streamlined, user-centered experience Beam provides.

Since 2020, Beam has administered over $200 million to 300,000 households. We’re looking forward to continuing our work with governments and institutions across the country to bring dignity to the social safety net and ensure that everyone has access to the critical services they need to keep their lights on and food on the table.

We hope to see you in Denver! You can also follow along with us on Twitter and LinkedIn.
